The Massive Dev Chart for Handheld Devices

NEW! Thanks to Jan Keirse we now have a mobile version of the Massive Dev Chart that is up-to-date and can be used on most handheld devices and mobile/cellular phones!

The new application is in J2ME format and you can read about it and download a copy from Jan's site at:

http://jankeirse.free.fr

See the "Download" section on Jan's site for full instructions.

There are two versions available:

J2ME edition (devchart.jar & devchart.jad)
for mobile/cellular/handheld devices running J2ME

Palm OS edition (devchart.prc)
for handheld devices running Palm OS (requires Java)

The Massive Dev Chart for the Palm OS (DOC format, deprecated)
DOC format Version 3.1 (June 2004)

Please note: This version of the chart is no longer supported.

The DOC format version of the chart will no longer be kept up-to-date, but this version still contains all of the data from the June 2004 edition of the online chart and will work for many years to come, so it will remain on the site as a free download. For those of you who are fans of the original DOC format file for the Palm OS, we have made the decision to move away from the DOC format to a more flexible and modern application, and will continue to work to bring you updated and improved versions for different platforms.

Instructions and Information

What hardware do I need to use it?
Any PDA running the Palm OS.

What software do I need to use it?
The Massive Dev Chart for Palm is designed for compatibility with all DOC format readers. If you do not have a DOC reader installed then you will need to download and install one.

What is a DOC reader?
DOC is the only non-proprietary text format currently available for the Palm OS. As an ASCII-based format, it does not require text styles or layout features. DOC readers are programs which will allow you to use any file formatted in this way.

What DOC reader do you recommend and where do I get one?
The important feature that you will need is the ability to read embedded bookmarks. The following open source freeware reader is recommended:

Weasel Reader http://gutenpalm.sourceforge.net

This reader is fast and easy to use and has the advantage of being free. The chart is designed to work in all DOC format readers; however, some readers use non-standard formatting features which can cause parts of the text display incorrectly. For more shareware and commercial options check out: Palmsource or PalmGear.

How do I install the DOC reader and the Dev Chart file?
Follow the instructions provided with your Palm software. The archive is compressed in Zip format and needs to be expanded. Files for 35mm, 120-220 Roll film, and sheet film are supplied separately. You can install any or all of these depending upon your requirements.
