Re: Rodinal digitaltruth´s formula not working !? HELP

Just buy it. Sodium hydroxide is a powerful alkali, not to be messed with by amateurs.

Re: 120 Tri-x @ 1600 in HC-110

Orny: please explain what you mean, "nothing can be done". tri-x has been underexposed two stops for decades, with results that have satisfied the shooter. though the results may not be satisfactory by your standards, if they were so terrible to other people, who have continued to do it, what does ...

Re: 120 Tri-x @ 1600 in HC-110

Your film is two stops underexposed. Nothing can be done. If you had overexposed it by the same margin, there would be no problem, and no change to processing would be needed. B&W negative film has no underexposure latitude, but about five stops of overexposure latitude. If you make the best prints ...

You have under-exposed your film. Nothing can be done.

Re: How to properly make PaRodinal

Mixing rodinal and xtol probably did not work out in the long run. Haven't seen anything about it lately on photo.net or apug. jim In very few cases will mixing two very different developers give you a result 'intermediate' between the two. The developing agent in Rodinal needs a strong alkali to w...

Your getting a little more complex than I would go, but I did consider adding a little sea salt to the basic formula. Have you tried combining parodinal with xtol yet? This mixture seems to be popular in some quarters
Jim.
Mixing developers using different alkalis is not sensible.

What times would you suggest, and dilution? I have found Pan F+ to be a hassle, but I am stubborn, sort of. Might like to try it again.

I assume this is the fx-39 you referred to in you January post last year. I am guessing that you are finding it meets your standards vis a vis other developers.

It is very good, perhaps the sharpest developer I have ever used, with very fine grain.

Re: pushing ulterafine extreme 400 to 1600 with a gsd10 st

What dev times are you using with FX39? These images from films developed in FX39 look good. https://www.flickr.com/search/?text=adox%20fx39&view_all=1 Jim, your link doesn't seem to be working. Basically, I use the times given by Paterson for 1+9 dilution, but dilute 1+14 instead. I also rate the ...

Re: pushing ulterafine extreme 400 to 1600 with a gsd10 st

Lots of folks use SD very successfully. Give it a try, there's more than one opinion out there. http://www.apug.org/forums/search.php?searchid=5205381 I use gentle, minimal agitation, two inversions (with rotation) once per minute. I also fill the tank almost to the top, leaving only a small amount...

Re: pushing ulterafine extreme 400 to 1600 with a gsd10 st

probably totally unrelated to OP, but have been browsing old copies of "darkroom and creative camera techniques", and in the nov/dec 1989 issue, Phil Davis gives his take on agitation, and what causes streaks and so forth. his desire for even development resulted in his "reinvention" of tube proces...
