Does the Crawley Formula FX37 INCREASE in activity on storage similar to some other developers ?
I mixed up some FX37 some weeks ago and did some 35mm Ilford Delta 100 outdated in it and got some good negs at 7 mins so I used some outadted Delta 100 120 size when we had some heavy frost here in Essex and gave the same time but the negs were strangely DENSE -- I metered carefully with a Weston Master V -- I was using my free gift Mamiya C220 with the 80mm and 135mm lenses.. Do you think the shutter may have been running SLOW because of the cold -- I know my fingers were !!

It's hard to say, but there's a strong possibility that it's the shutter. I doubt that the developer could have mysteriously increased in strength.

I noticed that for this image, that you used a dilution of 1+1 for developing the film instead of the 1+3 dilution recommended by Geoffrey Crawley who designed the developer.

Keith -- you have 'sharp eyes' !! -- but I'm sure it was a typing error as I take 70mls of FX37 and make up to 280mls with water for a 120 film in my Paterson Major II (Old model) -- Peter

Perhaps a slightly weaker dilution would be better such as 1+4 or 1+5.

Keith -- Here are some Delta 100 shots from my MINOX 35GT with 7 mins development in FX37 1+3 dilution and they were not so dense -- I have done a 16x12" Exhibition print from this one for my Club.

I am glad that FX37 has worked for you Pete.
