I discovered that there is a new formulation of FX-39, intended to improved stability and shipping in cold weather. I processed some film Wednesday night (Tri-X and T-Max 400) at 1+14 for 7.5 minutes. I made some prints Friday, and the negatives seem a little too vigorous to print on grade 3, so I will try 1+17 next.
Just this past week I shot some test frames. The development times given are way too long, and dilution way too strong. I found that T-Max 400 develops just fine at 1+17 for 8 minutes, and so does HP5 +. Tri-X looks good at 7 minutes. I shot some Pan-F +, Delta 400, and Acros Neopan 100 yesterday. All films were given one additional stop of exposure from meter reading taken from a tree.
Prints were made using filtration equivalent to Multigrade #3, Leitz Focotar-2 50mm f/4.5 enlarging lens, Fujimoto G70 enlarger, condenser configuration.
