Lauder PHOTOGRAPHIC, INC.

Specializing in Photographic Chemistry for Black & White Photography

Here’s how Lauder Photographic Chemistry guarantees you perfect photographs every time…

Consistency is everything to the professional photographer.

A photographer knows that impure, inconsistent or improperly mixed chemicals can destroy an irreplaceable negative or seriously damage print quality.

At Lauder Chemical, we’re dedicated to making certain this never happens to your photographic work.

Our superior quality photographic chemicals are scientifically blended. We then check and double check for purity, strength, balance and consistency.

Perhaps equally important, our readymix is just that… ready. No hour long waits before you can begin developing or printing.

Our stringent quality control procedures and tests forever eliminate particle specs on film or prints and guard against premature spoilage, deterioration and strength inconsistency.

Here are some of the way we protect your photography at Lauder Chemical:

Deionized water: More pure than bottle distilled water, our deionized water is virtually free fromall particles or impurities—less than one part per million total dissolved solids.

Oxygen-free mixing: All of our chemicals are blended in stainless steel, non-oxidizing mixing tanks. Unlike home mixing, no chemical deteriorating oxygen can reach or effect ay Lauder Chemical product.

Superior filtration: Our system is 55 times for effective than the best darkroom filtration methods. All particles larger than .45 microns--.00002 of an inch—are completely eliminated.

All Lauder Chemical products must meet these strict quality standards in our fully equipped testing laboratories before they may be sold to you:

Balance Test: We carefully check the ph alkaline-acid balance to assure chemical strength and print consistency.

Weight Check: The specific gravity of each Lauder product is analyzed to guarantee the perfect balance of ingredients. Our analyses of total alkalinity and acidity levels mean that you can depend on our products’ strength and longevity.

Photographic Analysis: As a final check, we photographically test ourphotochemicals on negatives and prints. Our electronic densitometer checks for product consistency down to a 20thof an f/stop.

Photographic Containers: The container is especially colored to screen out harmful ultraviolet light sources.

FORMULA 76

Fine grain developer (Similar to Kodak D-76)

Lauder Formula 76 developer produces maximum emulsion speed and maximum shadow detail with normal contrast. Formula 76 produces negatives with high definition and fine grain characteristics. Can be used in tray or tank and its excellent development latitude permits even forced development with very little fog. To be used full strength with or without replenishment, or diluted 1:1 as a one shot. Storage life is excellent.

FILM DEVELOPER CONCENTRATE 876

Ultra fine grain film developer

Lauder Film Developer Concentrate 876 is a long scale, ultra fine grain, maximum acutance developer offering economy, developing control, maximum shadow detail and turbidity. In addition, Lauder Film Developer Concentrate 876 produces a very low fog level even with forced development. Undiluted storage life is indefinite.

PAPER DEVELOPER 721

Ready to use Elon type (Similar to Kodak Dektol)

Lauder Developer 721 is aready to use stock solution paper developer formulated to give a fine grain image with neutral black tones which can be made warmer with dilution. Long tray life and great print capacity is characteristic of this developer. For use with all papers and some films.

PAPER DEVELOPER 872

Concentrated-Phenidone type

Lauder Developer 872 is a neutral tone, long scale, normal contrast developer which does not stain orirritate the skin. A very wide tonelatitude is obtainable by the choice of paper coupled with the appropriate dilution of developer. General purpose paper developer.

STOP BATH

Lauder Stop Bath both inready to use and concentrated forms are of the indicator type designed toneutralize the developer with a minimum of swelling of the emulsion. Turns purple when exhausted.

RAPID FIXER 763 and 874 (dual rapid fixer)

Contains hardener

Lauder Rapid Fixer 763 and 874 are acide hardening fixers that have excellent keeping quality before and with use, and can be used repeatedly until exhausted. Comes in ready to use and concentrated formsand can be used with all types of films or papers when diluted 1:1. This fixer is made to government specifications and lasts 20% to 50% longer than any other fixer.

RAPID FIXER 623 and 874

Contains no hardener

Lauder Fixer 623 and 874 is the same as Lauder Fixer 763 except no hardener is included and can be used with all papers and films needed for retouching. Comes in both ready to use and concentrated forms.

DILUTION OF CHEMISTRIES

Lauder F-76 developer can be used straight with or without replenishment, or diluted 1:1 and used as a one shot. Lauder Film Developer Concentrate 876 is diluted 1:7 for proper development. Lauder ready-to-use paper developer 721 normally is diluted 1:1, which gives normal contrast and neutral tones. For greater contrast or cold tones use full strength—for warmer tones or less contrast dilute 1:3.

Lauder Film Fixer 763 is aready-to-use chemistry and should not be diluted for use with film. However, it can be diluted for 1:1 for papers. This product contains hardener for protection of the image surfaces.Concentrated film fixer 874 (contains no hardener) is diluted 1:3 foruse with films and 1:7 for use with paper (after dilution a separate hardener can be added). Lauder ready-to-use paper fixer 623 should not be diluted for use. Concentrated paper fixer 874 is diluted 1:7 for use.

DEVELOPMENT TIMES

Continuous tone films are almost always developed by time and temperature in either small or large tanks using appropriate film charts with standard temperature of 68F or 20C. Paper and litho films are generally developedby inspection; normal working times of 1-2 minutes can be extended to 10 minutes without fogging.

SOLUTION ACTIVITY

Lauder film chemistry used without replenishment can process 25 rolls of 135mm – 36 exposure per gallon of chemistry with an increase in time of 10% per every 5 rolls developed. Formula 76 film developer can also be used with replenishment or as a one shot diluted 1:1.

Lauder stop baths have along working life and will remain active until the solution turns purple.

Lauder paper developers can process 175 8X10’s or their equivalent per gallon of solution.

Lauder film fixers can process 35 rolls (135mm -36 exposure) of film per gallon of solution.

Lauder paper fixers can process 225 8X10’s or their equivalent per gallon of solution.
