Ultrafine Extreme 400

Has anyone analyzed this film to determine who the manufacturer might be? Been using the 120 with so-so success. the backing paper sure says Ilford.

I should have said "resembles" Ilford product. Maybe Ilford had a hand in coating and / or packaging this film.

Why are you using some off-brand film?

Why am I using an off-brand film. Possibly because some of us retired fixed income folk have to make some compromises if we want to continue our distractions. It is very reasonably priced, it isn't that bad a product, and other shooters have had a good experience with it. Any film is usable if you get a handle o
n it. I am quite sure my own shortcomings do not do this product justice.

The cost of Kodak or Ilford film is not that much greater.

I guess the original idea behind my original post was to find out if this was indeed a top-tier film in disguise. As I said, the packaging is identical to Ilford without the Ilford name. It is probably not HP 5 since Simon Galley says they no longer sell the good stuff to be repackaged under another vendor's label. Did they sell the packaging to PhotoWarehouse to package film that they had bought from somebody like Fuji, who claims to no longer sell Neopan 400 120 in the States? Good project for you, Ornello. Somebody with your expertise should be able to run this down in a month or two.

I would like to know, but I really don't have the time. What do the edge markings say?

Aside from the frame numbers on one side, ULTRAFINE EXTREME 400iso on the other side. I didn't measure, but it looks like the number-spacing was set for 6x4.5 format, and lettering was for 6x6 format. Lettering all caps, except for iso in lower case.

There was some speculation that Extreme film was the export version from Ilford, that went to "third world " countries.
