Question About Box Settings?

Post by BDC »

I can not find anywhere on Fuji's site about what the filter settings on the enlarger should be for Fujifilm Fujicolor Crystal Archive Super C Color Negative RC (Resin Coated) Glossy Paper 16x20"-50 Sheets. Does anyone know?

The filter settings for a RA-4 print depends on the photo paper, used film and RA-4 chemicals. Further it will slightly vary for each negative. You always have to compensate for 2 filters only. If you are printing a regular C41 film normally it's Y and M. C stays on zero.
I can only suggest to read a book how to print RA-4 yourself. It's a rather technical issue.
If you have a color analyzer you can calibrate it on a grey card photographed on your film. A bit advanced analyzer will give you the calibration automatically for this film, your used RA-4 paper and your RA-4 chemicals. It will give you for this type of film the filter corrections and the E.I. for the paper either for each other unknown negative on the film. As long as you are not changing anything this will be valid. Otherwise you have to do a new calibration for getting a neutral filtered photo.

Yeah, but usually, on Kodak boxes at least, they give you a start setting, like 40 Y and 50 M to start on. Then you change it for each setting. I just need a start setting. I can work from there.
