Rodinal and NEW Tri-X (400TX)

Post by Goros »

Hi again,
I've mentioned that I use Rodinal, but I haven't said that since the New Tri-X (400TX) is in the market I haven't used it at all. The reason is that I haven't found the developing times for that combo. There isn't any info in the Tri-X box nor in the Rodinal info-sheet.
I've check out in the Massive Dev Chart, but all the information is for Tri-X Pan or for the old Tri-X (TX).
Could I assume the same time for old and new Tri-X?

Thanks for your help.

As it states in the chart, you should use the old times as your starting points. Although some users report different times, in general I think this can be put down to differences in processing techniques or the use of erroneous data which had never been revised.

Dick Dickerson and Silvia Zawsdzki published an excellent article in Photo Techniques (March/April 2003) which demonstrates that the change in film base cannot account for significant differences to the development times. You can read the article online here: ... erson.html
