Polaroid color tanks

I was wondering how these worked I've seen a few on the used market.
I'm wanting to start doing C 41 but I'm worried about times and temperatures. Would a Polaroid tank solve either of these problems or is it more of a gimmick product. I can't seem to find any literature on or about these so any information would be helpful.
