Just wondering: What's everyone's favorite camera?

Post by CJBas »

Not necessarily what you think is the best camera in the world, but what camera do you use for most of your work? Or, is there one you really want and are aiming to get? Why is it you like using that camera so much? What makes it a part of you?

Leicaflex SL-2. Also, when I used medium format film, Hasselblad.

Hasselblad 500 CM.

I had a Pentax 67 with the metered prism, and I reallly liked it, but I was stuck with one film at a time. Carrying both the Hasselbald and the Pentax for miles along the trails of the Columbia Gorge became a pain in the butt, so I sold the Pentax, and bought extra backs and more lenses for the Hasselblad.

I like the precision, and the Zeiss optics. I also like never worrying about running out of batteries at the end of a long hike.

Believe it or not. I also like my "Old Reliable" Minolta XG-1. I've had it since 1983, and it's never let me down.

Leica IIIf -- quiet, small, no electronics -- favorite, have had it since 1956

Hasselblad 501CM -- no electronics

Nikon FM -- very little electonics

I`ve probably got too many Cameras. I mostly use a 35mm Canon outfit, a Mamiya RZ67 which I use mostly for portraiture and a 5x4 MPP Mark8 Camera which I don`t use much.
Probably 90%+ of the time I use 35mm and I usually shoot B&W film.
I also have a Canon EOS 10D D-SLR which I use if I want colour images, although I rarely ever use it.

My favorite is still my Nikon F's (I have several). Rugged, great lenses, manual operation, everything I need. I also use a couple of Yashica rangefinders (GSN, Minister III) a Rolleiflex 3.5, and a Mamiya Press Super. Love 'em all, but the Nikons best. 8)
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away

The best camera is my eye.

But if you want to know it, I like RF camera's very much so my vote is the M7 (Leica) with some compact lenses (2,0/2,5/2,8 ). :)

I will have to agree with Robert: the eye has recorded instances that could not be captured with the camera, that, hopefully, will be remembered with fondness, horror, or whatever.
I usually carry an Epic zoom with me, but it is not my favorite. My go-to camera is m Rollei 2.8f that looks like it has been through hell and back, but still cranks 'em out. Second would be my Nikon FM, then my FE2n.

Currently it's the Rolleiflex SL 35mm series.

Lately, I've been having some fun with a Lomo that I bought about 10 years ago, a rigid-front Contessa, a couple of Zeiss Ikon folders, a little Olympus RC and a Rollei XF 35.
