Kentmere Chemistry.

Post by Keith Tapscott. »

How do these processing chemicals using the `Kentmere Ltd` name compare to their `Kodak` counterparts?

The results should be identical. The Kentmere chemicals are designed to replicate the Kodak products, so any differences would be academic.

I am a long time user of D-76, so K-76 is of interest to me if it replicates the Kodak developer for yield and stability. As Kentmere has now been acquired by Harmon Technology, I am wondering if some of these products might replace some of those in the Ilford range assuming that they are or will be available worldwide? :?:

No, that isn't going to be the case. The Kentmere chemicals are made specifically for the North American market, and are simply an alternative to the Kodak products where availability and cost might be an issue in different US States. Ilford has its own full line of processing chemistry which will continue to be manufactured and sold on a worldwide basis.

In the UK, your options for this type of developer are D-76 and ID-11, or to mix your own from raw. Importing K-76 wouldn't make much sense once the shipping costs are included, as the product that you buy is essentially the same.
