Bergger BTF 200: As good as Kodak, Fuji, Ilford?

Post by kcf »

Anyone tried this film? Is it in the same league as the films made by the big three?

I assume you mean Bergger BHF film. I dont know about a "BTF" product from Bergger.

I've used it. It's much more accepting of zone system controls than more modern emulsions. As for what league it's in... Well, I like it for portraits beacuse it doesn't have as many abrupt edges as Kodak or Fuji films. The tag line that Bergger uses is: "If you liked Kodak's much loved Super XX emulsion, you'll like..." I never used Super XX, so I don't know how they compare. I look at it as another tool for expression. Their quality controls seem to be outstanding, and the results I get are repeatable. So, if the shot I see in my head would look better with this film, I use it. Grab life by the horns. Try it. Report your findings here.

It's "BRF," not "BHF." I hit the wrong key.
