I am looking for a low contrast developer for ilford 3200 120 shot at 1000iso. It will ultimately be scanned. It should have good smooth long mid tones and soft highlights and shadows. It will be scanned and printed large. It is my experience that low contrast negs scan the best.

Any recommendations?

thanks.

You could use what ever your regular developer is and cut back around 10% on the time. That should help to reduce contrast. Another choice is Perceptol which is a soft working developer.

I would suggest D-76 1:1, and cut back 20%.

For scanning you should keep the grain as fine as possible. I would follow Ilford recommendations: Perceptol or DD-X.
