you don't say WHAT film it is: B/W, Colour Neg or Pos: when I was a Part-time Tutor at Barking College Photography dept. the students had Cambo,De Vere and an MPP 4x5 to use. The students had to make a 'step-wedge' exposure on one sheet of film and develop it first - but you don't want to do that; well, if it is B/W and the film is FRESH then you must make allowance for any 'Bellows Extension' if you are taking anything fairly close-up,then downrate the film and give less than recommended development for subjects with a high subject-brightness range, such as taken in strong sunlight or uprate slightly and give extended development for subjects with a low subject-brightness range such as in very overcast daylight. If the film is OUTDATED then you should give at least one stop MORE exposure and extend development by at least 25% from recommended times. You should get a first time result following this!
