Takamura lenses were made in Japan in the 70's. The glass used in them is supposed to be superior to even Nikon's quality. I don;t know if that's true or a rumor-I was hoping someone knew. Haven't been able to find any info online.

Takuma lenses were very good in the 70's. I had a 50mm 1.4mm Super Takumar lens on an Asahi Pentax S1a but they may now render images a little outdated, however, if you want that retro look to your pictures then I would highly recommend them to you. There seems to be plenty about and you should in fact be able to put a small system together with an S1a/ SV or Spotmatic F body for very little outlay. Interestingly, I bought a Cosina Voigtlander 75mm 2.5 Colour Heliar lens recently and I would swear the lens barrel is the same as Super Takumar's and the lens definition is very similar. I hope this helps
