mixing xtol and rodinal

Hello,

Hello,

I standardize BW development on Xtol and Rodinal.
I use Agfa film in rodinal and Fuji Acros, neopan400/1600 in Xtol.
Because the chemicals are cheap and good to work with.
Though i find the results for fuji film in Xtol (1+1) not bad. But Neopan 1600 lack the "bite".
(mostly Neopan Acros and 400 come out fine).

Now i'm orientating on mixing Xtol and rodinal for NP1600.

My questions are:
What should i pay attention to when i mix xtol and rodinal. ?
Which dilutions are fine ?
What experiences do others have ?

I'm planning my first test: Xtol (1+2) (total 300 ml) plus 5 ml Rodinal for 9 min 20 C Is this a good start point ?

Hi Jan,

I'm not sure whether this is the best way to proceed due to the different compositions and characteristics of the developers.

Have you tried developing Neopan 1600 in Rodinal? You should get plenty of "bite" especially at 1+25 or 1+50. I would also recommend TMax Developer for this film, although it is more expensive it will produce an excellent result.

I think i give it a try.
Rodinal alone will give probably to much grain.

Thanks,
