Developing Rollei R3

Post by rjdibert »

I have read a number of discourses re. this film however they all recommend developers not easily available in New Zealand. We have a few ilford developers (easily available are ID-11 and D-76 ... virtually interchangeable I know)I have a bit of Rodinal left but would rather have some solutions that would allow me to repeat a successful effort. Cheers for any assistance, Rita

Best results you will get with CG512/RLS which is an ultra fine grain depth developer.
RHS/AM74 in 1+7 for the higher iso rates is also doing well.

D76 stock is reasonable OK but Rodinal (which is a surface developer) is a bad combination.

Do not forget the pre-soak for this film, which is important.
It's a 3-layer film (therefore R3) and the developer should penetrate deep into the 3 layer film emulsion.
Follow the guidelines in the data sheet.

Best regards,

Robert

There was an error in the devchart, so the times for R3 were not available. I have fixed it now and you can see all the times by selecting "Rollei R3" from the film list at:
