Expired TMZ: can it be salvaged?

Post by kcf »

I understand TMZ doesn't keep long after expiration, even when refrigerated. I've got quite a few rolls that expired in 2006 that have, for what it's worth, been kept refrigerated. Can they be salvaged as a slower film? What does the deterioration consist of?

The only way to be sure Kevin is to shoot a roll and process it. Films usually lose some speed and contrast as they age past their expiry date, so bracket your exposures to see if that has happened.

The faster the film, the more it is affected by cosmic radiation. I would not expect this film to be useless, but it would be iffy at this stage.
