Rollei RPX 25 in HC 110

Post by JERZY »

Warm Welcome.

I would like to ask if anyone has experience with Rollei RPX 25? Am living in Oman and taking photographs on the sandy deserts such is Empty Quarter when the light is quite strong, and the contrast is high. So far I used TX400, and developed this film in HC 110 (1+100), but I needed more fine grain films. I choose a new Rollei RPX 25 but have not any experience with it so far. Someone used HC 110 to develop RPX 25?

Camera I am use is a Mamiya 7II along with 43 and 65 mm lenses.

Thank for any help.

Jerzy

What films are available there? Is FP4 or T-Max 100 available? Those are very fine grain films.

Available here? In Oman? Non, nothing is available here. Oman is a "black hole" if you need any professional materials for analogue photography.

I have to buy films online and bought some from the UE. I have also an Across 100, which is absolutely excellent and in my opinion slightly better then FP4+ or other traditional medium speed films, but so far i used Fuji in Europe, never here in the Middle East.

RPX 25 has an opinion being a successor of the legendary APX25. I really liked an old Agfa films that's why i bought a new Rollei product. The light here is strong enough, so low speed is not a problem at all.

United Europe. Sorry my mistake, i should write EU.

I made a first test of Neopan Acros 120 developed in HC110 1:175. It is most fine grain 100 asa B/W negative i have ever seen. Will update you after test with new Rollei RPX 25.

HC-110 and a slow speed film is too steep in contrast. You should use a low contrast type developer or a semi-compensating developer type for RPX 25 in harsh light.
Even Rodinal/R09 in 1+50 or 1+100 is already pretty contrastly for this film. It is very fine grained but not much less if you are used to Fuji Acros 100.

JERZY, how did it go with the RPX test? as it's ortho you could always use a dilute developer and develop a strip or two by inspection and see what you get.
I've read others using rodinal 1+300 to tame graphic films like this.
