25 ISO Orthochromatic emulsion, this is the original Washi Film, hand-coated on a traditional Kozo paper.
Film "W" is an orthochromatic black & white film hand coated on a traditional japanese paper, the Washi. Made for centuries in Japan, this paper combines just the right physical properties with a unique aesthetic: strong, flexible and transparent, Washi is the ideal medium for creating a handcrafted photographic film. With high sensitivity to blue, less to the green and no sensitivity to red light, this film gives best results with urban, portrait and still life photography.
You can use any print developer at normal strength for about 3 minutes, or by inspection under red safelight. The nominal ISO of the film is 25, but we recommend you test for optimal exposure and development from 6 -25 ISO.
NOTE: This film is intended for tray development only! Although the film is supplied in a roll format, the paper base will become very soft when saturated, so it is inadvisable to attempt to load the film onto a plastic reel. Use of a metal reel may be possible, but you should run a test with your own equipment to determine whether the film can be safely loaded.
